Sustainable Event
COMPROMISO
COMMITMENT - STATEMENT The events organized by ACSOJA for the dissemination and updating of information on soybean cultivation and the soybean value chain are SUSTAINABLE EVENTS.
“Every action counts”
What do we mean when we say “sustainable event”?
The Brundtland Report (1987) defines sustainable development as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
A sustainable event is one that is held under certain guidelines that guarantee the conservation of natural and social resources, so that these resources can be available for future events. “The main objective of a sustainable event is to minimize negative impacts, reducing the ecological footprint as much as possible, taking advantage of the opportunities it can provide to the local environment in which it takes place, and helping to increase awareness of responsibility among all parties involved.” (Torrego, Paredes; 2009:9)
Organizing a sustainable event involves the entire process of the organization itself and all the stakeholders involved.
The goal is to minimize impacts by reducing the generated Carbon Footprint as much as possible (*).
The carbon footprint is measured in mass of CO2 equivalent. Once the size and footprint are known, it is possible to implement a strategy for reducing and/or offsetting emissions through various public or private programs.
This initiative's main objective is to reduce the consequences of events and generate benefits for everyone, both those directly involved and the members of the community that hosts us.
Each step must necessarily be planned and executed in order to optimize the event's results, with a vision of a sustainable future, considering issues related to the natural environment in all its dimensions (social, environmental, and economic).
ACSOJA will promote and support sustainable development actions and projects that are environmentally friendly.
We are committed. “Every action counts,” and we aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible and/or offset them.
We hope to count on the support and participation of everyone who makes the World Soybean Research Conference XII 2027 possible: organizers, sponsors, suppliers, supporters, and attendees. Together, we will adopt practices and habits that make our environment a sustainable space, guaranteeing the best living conditions for all inhabitants. Our goal is to make this event an enriching and meaningful experience for all participants and future generations.
It's a journey, a sum of commitments and wills, and we're doing it together! "Every action counts." ACSOJA is committed; get involved too!
This is our commitment, and we'd like it to be yours.
Let's team up. A sustainable team!

(*) [Carbon footprint] is one of the simplest ways to measure the impact or mark a person leaves on the planet in their daily life. It's a count of the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions released into the atmosphere due to our daily activities or the sale of a product. It is known as "the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced directly or indirectly by an individual, organization, event, or product."
Big goals that we can break down into small actions:
“Every action counts”
We're not asking you to change everything right now, but we would like you to get excited about the idea and start joining us to generate change
Here are some suggestions that can lead to action, encouraging a positive attitude toward this commitment:
- Rationalize the consumption of natural resources, including electricity.
- Reduce waste generation and ensure its proper treatment.
- Reducción del ruido.
- Reduce the environmental impact associated with transportation by prioritizing public or shared transportation.
- Raise awareness and improve the habits of those who attend, organize, and participate in the event.
- Reduce costs related to energy, raw materials, and waste management.
- Improve community relations.
- Community awareness.
What can you do as an attendee?
Recommendations for taking action and incorporating new habits.
Transportation
It's important to consider the amount of polluting gases generated by our commutes, taking into account the energy consumption of the means of transport we use to get from our point of origin to our destination.
How can we reduce them?:
- Direct trips;
- Optar por el medio de menor consumo;
- Shared rides.
Take ownership of the city, but take care of the common spaces; they belong to everyone.
Use the designated recycling bins. In the event venue, help separate waste at the source.
